Jennifer Lopez is receiving rave reviews for her heartfelt tribute to the late Mexican-American pop star Selena.
The 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards were held today and undoubtedly the highlight of the ceremony was JLo's performance dedicated to the singer once dubbed "The Mexican Madonna".
“People like that don't come along every day,” JLo told Billboard two weeks ago. “There is never going to be another Selena. The grace with which she handled the business, the grace with which she handled her life, the humor. Her spirit of loving what she did. Her sense of family. That's the tragedy of everything that happened and why she left such an imprint -- because she was gone way too soon.”
Selena tragically lost her life in 1995, at the height of her career, when she was killed at just 23 by an obsessive fan.
Lopez's big break came from playing Selena herself in a 1997 biofilm about the pop star.
Lopez took to the stage with Selena's family band Los Dinos and, amid three on-stage costume changes, sang a series of Selena's biggest hits including "Como La Flor," "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" and "No Me Queda Mas".
