Jennifer Hudson released a low-lit video for "Remember Me," the lead single off her forthcoming album with Epic Records and a follow-up to 2011’s I Remember Me.
In the clip, Hudson struggles with lost love. At times, she stands on her own two feet, other moments the singer gives in to the man that broke her heart. “As an artist, when I discover music that I connect with deeply, it brings me a sense of excitement that I can’t put into words,” she recently said. “That’s how I feel about ‘Remember Me.’ Everything about it is special — from co-writing it with Jamie [Hartman], to the recording process, to how it made me feel along the way. I just can’t wait to share it with the world.”
The song itself is about Hudson selfishly finding comfort in the times a past lover would miss out on key moments in her life. In the vid, Hudson ends up in the arms of her ex. Not the empowering message it ought to have, but love is complicated.
