Come on take a sip cause you know what I'm serving.
Jason Derulo enlisted Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign for his Carribean-tinged new song “Swalla,” the lead single off his forthcoming album. It's a melting pot of other classics, including Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s 1995 single “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 smash “Swimming Pools (Drank).”
Derulo and Ty trade verses about their game. “Met her out in Beverly Hills,” Ty sings. “Dolla got too many girls / Met her out in Beverly Hills / All she wear is red bottom heels.” Derulo sings “All the girls in here / If you feeling thirsty / Come on, take a sip.”
Nicki recently said her contribution on Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack song, "Bom Bidi Bom" with Nick Jonas, was her best verse ever, but “Swalla” is equally appealing if not more. It appears the rapper sinks her fangs into Remy Ma. “I gave these bitches two years, now your time’s up,” she spits. “Bless her heart, she throwin’ shots, but every line sucks.”
“I feel like it’s a record we need,” Derulo said of the song earlier this year. “It’s one of those ones that’s gonna get us up and dancing.”
