Janet Jackson will have to celebrate quietly this weekend.
Jackson remains on strict vocal rest and forced to reschedule her Oct. 9 & Oct. 10 shows in Las Vegas, but she’ll have something exciting to fill the void: she was nominated for the 2016 Rock Hall of Fame.
Chic, The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails and N.W.A are also among the 15 finalists on this year’s ballot for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, organizers have announced, reports THR. Inductees are eligible for the Rock Hall of Fame 25 years after their first of a recording, album or single (1990).

Voting concludes on Dec. 9. The top five acts will get placed into a “fans’ ballot” that will “make an impression along with those of the 800 artists, historians and music industry professionals who make up the Rock Hall voting body.”
Chicago, Cheap Trick, the Cars, Chaka Khan, The J.B.’s, Jackson, Los Lobos and Miller receive their first nomination. Chic has been nominated 10 times and N.W.A. four times.
Inductees will be announced in the “coming weeks.”
