Janet Jackson made good on her word.
The pop star was forced to postpone The Unbreakable World Tour per doctor's orders because she was starting a family with billionaire Wissam Al Mana (they called it quits three months after the birth of their baby boy Eissa Al Mana). Jackson promised fans she'd pick things back up some time in 2017. Enough time had passed though that some fans became increasingly concerned. One went as far as to file a class action lawsuit against Live Nation for failing to refund ticket sales.
Over the weekend, Jackson's website posted a countdown clock and teased a special announcement would arrive once the numbers zeroed out. Here we are: the news is that Janet is relaunching her tour under a new name and kicks it off beginning September 7.
Janet filmed a (very) candid video explaining. In fact, so candid she notes the bags under her eyes and quips back at her brother Randy.
“Hey you guys it’s me, Jan," she starts. “This message was supposed to be about something else… I just want to keep it real with you guys for a second.” She gushes over her baby boy and mentions the separation, then dives right into the reveal.
“I’m continuing my tour as I promised. I am so excited. I decided to change the name of the tour. State of the World Tour."
“It’s not about politics. It’s about people, the world, relationships and just love.”
