On Sunday evening, Michael Jackson's Twitter account posted a cryptic teaser of a mysterious project titled Scream out September 29.
The cartoon clip featured a black cat, a black widow, crows and a poster of Michael gazing into your soul. It’s spooky and almost definitely Halloween-themed, which is rather exciting considering how timeless “Thriller” is.
Could it be a new album? It looks that way. However, John Branca, co-executor of the late singer’s estate, told Variety recently he does not “foresee us releasing any more unreleased music for quite some time.” But he added: “That doesn’t mean there won’t be interesting [new] record releases in the very near future.”
It’s worth noting fans have spotted posters throughout Europe that read “Michael Jackson Scream: Album Out Sept. 29.”
Perhaps Scream is a compilation of classic MJ tracks remixed with a Halloween flair? But very likely, it's the soundtrack for CBS' upcoming hour-long animated special called Michael Jackson Halloween. Read more about that here.
Looks like we’ll have to wait and see, but whatever this is it’s extremely intriguing. Fingers crossed for new material, though.
The last time Jackson’s estate released a record of new material was 2014’s Xscape.
