UPDATE // JANUARY 27:
A source claims Lady Gaga has no interest in using her massive platform at the Super Bowl halftime show to address America's volatile political climate.
She is “not even interested [in that],” an insider tells EW of her performance, which they claim is five songs or so. “It was never even a conversation.”
They also wouldn't confirm or deny the rumor Gaga will perform on the roof, but confirmed she has “some sort of stunt.”
EARLIER // JANUARY 25:
Lady Gaga could use one of the most-watched televised events of the year to promote love and acceptance in a time when it's needed the most.
Rumors continue to pop up surrounding Gaga's upcoming performance during the Super Bowl halftime show. Will she open on the roof? Is Tony Bennett joining in? What about Diplo? Is are there any special guests? Should we expect a tour announcement afterward? It remains to be seen, including the latest rumor – that the NFL told Gaga she "she cannot say anything or bring anything up about the election, or mention Donald Trump."
However, a rep for the NFL is calling that claim "nonsense from people trying to stir up controversy where there is none."
"The Super Bowl is a time when people really come together," reads a statement from the NFL via ET. "Lady Gaga is focused on putting together an amazing show for fans and we love working with her on it; we aren’t going to be distracted by this."
TMZ also received a similar statement from the NFL that denies she was ever asked to keep her mouth shut about politics / Trump.
It's no secret Mother Monster was an avid supporter of Hillary Clinton. She even staged a mini protest outside of Trump Tower on election night. Execs for the event are worried she'll stir up unwanted controversy, similarly to how Beyonce did last year with the Black Lives Matter imagery.
Even *if* Gaga was asked to play it safe, let's hope she uses this massive platform to shed some much-needed light on the orange monster and his team of puppets (or is it the other way around?).
