Britney Spears continues to puzzle the critics who have never ceased to predict her demise.
Latest news has it that Spears's 4th album, In The Zone, has hit the 8 million mark in units shipped to record bars all over the world. Sales currently stand at 6.18 million, still 4 million shy away from matching the record of its predecessor, Britney, which have units shipped standing at 12 million copies. The album Britney, as of May 2004, has already sold 10.6 million copies worldwide.
The magic 8 mark was achieved just this week, as Jive ships a fresh 100, 000 copies of In The Zone in US shelves, still 100, 000 copies short of the 3 million mark. In The Zone thus currently has 2.9 million copies shipped in the US alone.
This news comes after Spears's debut LP, Baby One More Time, was certified 14 times platinum and amidst the unprecedented frenzy over Spears's whirlwind romance with a former back-up dancer.
