Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill and more!
Tidal may be suffering on the financial end of things, but the JAY Z-backed streaming service is still plotting events, as evident by the recent report of a charity concert sponsored by the rapper and wifey Beyoncé.
Earlier this week, the New York Post reported that the power couple are planning a huge Tidal gig in New York City on October 15 in partnership with the Robin Hood Foundation. It's set to be a mega-show with heavyweights like Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill and Lil Wayne on the bill. And if last October's Tidal X show is any indication, it's clear that Bey and Jay will go full throttle with the 2016 affair.
"The event — for which tickets will start at $50, with some VIP packages going up to $100,000 — will raise money for Robin Hood, education for children in NYC and for charities nominated by the artists," the New York Post reported. "The event will also be streamed live on Tidal."
In case you were wondering, the Robin Hood Foundation is an institute that fights poverty and funds educational programs in the poor vicinities of NYC.
News of the show comes days after it was reported that Jigga was in serious talks to sell Tidal. As the story goes, the streaming service apparently "more than doubled its net loss" since the rapper took over as head honcho. Ouch. But is Apple Music interested in acquiring the service?
