Gwen Stefani sings of lost love.
Stefani’s latest songs, “Baby Don’t Lie” and the Pharrell-produced track “Spark The Fire,” were solid attempts at making waves in music, but instead they fell flat. It was original material, but it felt like Stefani reimagined songs she’s previously put forth versus contributing something untouchable. Her latest effort, a song she thinks will become a single, is what we’ve been waiting to hear.
Instead of an edgy punk-pop banger, the No Doubt lead-singer is opting for a power ballad. During her concert at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday (Oct. 17), Stefani debuted her new song “Used To Love You,” a trip down memory lane as she recalls her past life with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
“Never thought this would happen / I’ve let it sink in / You’re gone / Don’t know, know what I’m feeling / I must be dreaming / You’re gone…”
The performance featured new footage playing on the screens behind her.
