UPDATE: The New York Times confirms Boys Don't Cry will premiere on Friday as an Apple Music exclusive for two weeks. It will also include a music video for the song of the same name.
Frank Ocean is officially trolling us.
All signs were pointing to a July release date for the mythical singer-songwriter’s sophomore record “Boys Don’t Cry” yet, unsurprisingly, that didn’t happen.
Anticipation for the follow-up to 2012’s “channel ORANGE” is at an all-time high and his dedicated fans’ patience is running low, despite the fact that the 28-year-old has never actually made an announcement regarding the LP's status.
Although, he knows what he’s doing and it seems he’s enjoying sending the internet into a frenzy with the slightest update.
That’s why today (August 1) he added an Apple Music video livestream of an empty room to his website; not to debut the music, speak or even appear, but to make us wait longer.
The “livestream” turned out to be a looped video filmed by director Francisco Soriano, who announced the “art project” on Instagram earlier today.
We have no idea when “Boys Don’t Cry” will drop. At this point, does Frank even know? But we do now know that it’s likely to be an Apple Music exclusive, so get your fake e-mail addresses ready to sign up to another trial.
You can wait for the album over at boysdontcry.co.
