Florence Welch Confirms Rihanna’s Sampling Her Music

“I was so thrilled, because I’m such a huge fan… she sent me the song and I said ‘of course,’ but we’ve never actually managed to speak in person about it. We got to like hug it out.”

It’s bound to be an interesting collaboration between the two – Rihanna’s organic vocals should mesh perfectly with the song’s dramatic ambiance. But can she brihthe enough life into “A Night” and give it that fresh spin the Navy’s hoping for? Florence thinks so.

“I love it when stuff like that happens,” Florence continues. “When people reimagine your music. I love when it has different forms.”

See her explain at 8:25.

This collaboration is just one of many rumored to appear on Rihanna’s next studio album. She previously released “FourFiveSeconds” with Kanye West and Paul McCartney, possibly has a song with Sam Smith and maybe one with Ne-Yo. Then yesterday, Rihanna registered a song titled “Never Ending” which credits singer Dido as a co-writer. We’re assuming Rihanna is sampling Dido’s chorus on Eminem’s “Stan,” continuing the (tired?) use of samples.

Many of the artists Rihanna’s working with are vibey, mid-tempo crooners who aren’t here for the flashing… lights. Are you ready for Rihanna’s star-studded eighth studio album?
