Selena Gomez Says It Could Take 10 Years To Release Her New Album

Selena Gomez is putting Selena Gomez first, and that includes her music.

The pop star gave a candid interview to Harper's Bazaar about being a hyper famous pop star in 2018. She touches on the usuals: Instagram, fashion, handling superstardom and her Revival followup.

Last year, it appeared Selena was gearing up to release it – she dropped a handful of pop gems, including "Bad Liar," "Wolves" with Marshmello and "Fetish" featuring Gucci Mane, but no album in sight. What gives?

Harper's asked Selena if she thinks 2018 will be a better year for her.

"I’m going to say yes because I believe that for myself," she said. "And anyone who knows me knows I will always start with my health and my well-being. I’ve had a lot of issues with depression and anxiety, and I’ve been very vocal about it, but it’s not something I feel I’ll ever overcome. There won’t be a day when I’m like, “Here I am in a pretty dress—I won!” I think it’s a battle I’m gonna have to face for the rest of my life, and I’m okay with that because I know that I’m choosing myself over anything else. I’m starting my year off with that thought. I want to make sure I’m healthy. If that’s good, everything else will fall into place."

Gomez added she doesn't "really set goals ’cause I don’t want to be disappointed if I don’t reach them. Yikes.

"But I do want to work on my music too," she continued. "My next album has been forever in the making. When people ask me why, I’m honest about it: It’s because I haven’t been ready. I mean, point-blank, I don’t feel confident enough in where my music is yet. If that takes 10 years, then it takes 10 years. I don’t care. Right now I just want to be super intentional with all of the things I’m doing."

Huge props for Selena taking the reigns on her personal life, but 10 years? My soul died a little.

Despite all the supposed instagram followers she has and all the promo that Bieber gives her, few people give a damn about her music currently. If she waits 10 years she can expect her album to debut at #54 :unbothered:

I can hear that woman chewing louder than Selenagomez singing live
