Yep. WoB was the place to be back in TRL's heyday and from the start of her career.

And they always had something to bitch about/"hate on" back then, too.

Omg remember Ruben? Didn’t he turn out to be an asshole? Whatever happened to him,

Why am I not surprised :orangu:

Chris Mcarthy & Lauren Waters did it to themselves,  Spent half million on that studio, 2 million on promotion and you don't even play music videos. They did it to themselves.

2 weeks and this show is gone

You all have proven my statement correct.

1. You have attacked me on a social media chat forum yet your "generation" is so sensitive about what people post, say, think and have opinions.

2. You clearly have taken offense to defend your generation without learning from my generation which began MTV to have TRL. So please its called a little respect!

3. Reminder, that you are pointing your fingers at me for Paris Hilton which led to your precious reality show shitshows which led to MTV not be MTV. (Real World and Road Rules was the BEST!)  Reminder if we did not have a show where you call into VOTE which majority of the Millenials care more about Kim instead of making HERSTORY meaning to VOTE!!! You can thank yourself because now we have TRUMP!!! So if you got off your precious phones and worry less about celebrities we would have our first female president! I voted for Hillary by the way! (Speaking about Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson which have many awards and fabulous sales!)

4. The true fan experience is when you turn on your radio and listen to a song that inspires you. You call the radio station or find out who is the artist that made that song that made you want to dance, to do good and to rock out with your bad self. You would go to a record store, cd store or anywhere you want to go buy their music. You would listen to that CD or record. You would go to the concerts and follow them. Social media might have brought the fans closer to the artist but again look at the sales of Britney.

5. Look at the sales for Britney.  Since I am a part of this Brit Army. Look at the sales link again, look at it real close and take into facts that modern technology has ruined it. We went from personal cassette holders to cd players, to iPods and where you can listen to your music on a device that could be hacked in. You cant hack into a cd player or devices my generation had or have! So consider the fact that Russia hacked into our elections and anyone could hack into those devices.

6. Seriously wake up and realize the world around you. Trust me I have over 1,000 songs on my Samsung Galaxy 6s phone and I use this modern technology wisely, correctly and smart.

Reminder, you are hiding your true self behind a screen with screen names to hide your true self. Before TRL we had a tiny show that many will not know about and the legend this man was. Does anyone remember d*ck Clark? I bet you only remember him from Rockin New Years Eve but I remember him from a tiny show called American Bandstand when Madonna, Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson made their debut. So think about that when you want to talk about your generation. If it was not for shows like American Bandstand we would not have MTV which had a very amazing show called TRL which was the modern version of American Bandstand where we got introduced to Britney, Christina, Justin Timberlake, Rhianna, and Usher.  Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj and Demi Lavato are apart of the system we have today where they use social media wisely.

I really don't understand what your point is or why you're even bitching. Every generation is different. Nothing has been "ruined", it's just either been improved or rendered obsolete with new technology and practices. If we ever get to have time machines, then go back to 1990 and stay there if you loved it so much. I personally loved the 2000s because those are my fondest childhood memories, but I'm not gonna mope about the new iPods or radio not playing the music I like anymore. I've grown as a consumer. I still buy my CDs and listen to my own music. I don't like streaming but it's pretty useful when I want to listen to some new music before I buy it physically. So every generation has it's pluses and minuses. Deal. :whitney:

Do you work for MTV or Viacom? Could you explain more about why the execs are so daft and stubborn?

Nobody wants to sit around and watch 25 nobodies host a show where all they do is just make fools of themselves twerking and jumping around Times Square. The whole point of the original show was the music video countdown. The live performances and artist interviews are probably the only redeeming factor this reboot has going for it.

Also, this is probably the most douchebag tweet I've seen in a while.

Let me be the fucking adult here and tell you what ruin the good days and good times. The Millenials, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the glorification of that lifestyle of not caring plus looking like sh!t with crazy fashion statements. You took your freedom of expression to an extreme to fit in. You took your neck and caused it more problems down the road. LOOK UP AND LIVE LIFE! If you notice the fashion of Carson Daly when TRL was at its best and then you turn on the new TRL the fashion and attitude. Its night and day. You basically took the fan to artist experience away with sorry to say like these "forums" like these allowing hate to be online. Meaning we have no more Britney vs Christina's or Backstreet vs Nsync anymore. Meaning your opinions and words are replaced by an emoji and cannot construct well-thought sentences The internet screwed with the listening to the radio, watching VIDEOS on MUSIC TELEVISION.I bet the majority of those who read this don't remember Napster? The youth ruin the Billboard Charts and the "#1 most requested video" of the day.  Remember what that is called and going to concerts safe without worrying about what happened in Las Vegas. Our diverse culture is fabulous and as many of the gay young men on here will not worry about their culture but more worry about being online and not going to their libraries to read a book. Nope, it's online! Do you see a pattern? I may be from the Carson Daly which I am proud of but you millennials and younger "leaders" ruin it. WAKE UP! Keep loving the Kardashians. NO ONE CARES ABOUT THAT FAMILY AND WHAT THEY REPRESENT!! KEEP GLORIFYING CELEBRITIES AND NOT THOSE WHO SERVE AND PROTECT YOU FREEDOM TO RUIN THE REAL TRL DAYS OF THE PURE LOVE FOR MUSIC! Do you know what is a VHS? VCR? Modern technology can fun but it comes at a cost. THINK ABOUT IT!

EXAMPLE I LOVE BRITNEY SPEARS BUT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britney_Spears_discography

LOOK AT THE NUMBERS IN SALES FROM BABY ONE MORE TIME TO GLORY. IT IS PATHETIC THAT THE DIGITAL AGE RUINED THE EXPERIENCE OF WORKING HARD FOR YOUR MONEY TO GO TO THE MALL TO BUY A VINYL, TAPE OR CD. IF IT IS NOT BROKEN DONT FIX IT. THINK ABOUT IT!

Jesus Christ

for someone yelling at the youth to get off their phones, you're doing a whole to of typing. Thins change and all those artists you mentioned may not be as popular but still looked up to and mega successful while you, very much an adult, lecture Young gay boys on a Britney Spears forum. Stop blaming millenials for everything you think is wrong

TRL was never going to happen tbh.

I will say the new generation is so set on the new and only the new which is the problem with ppl born 2000 and up.

I like the new but am aware we shouldn't get rid of the things in the past or not as quick. The past is less risky...

we were more free in the past than we are now. I love the Internet but we can't deny the negative parts of it. With crime, loss of privacy, plus the biggest negative impact will be the loss of communication skills to other ppl. Which makes up a good part of our emotional well being.

Which is why we are seeing a spike in anxiety and depression imo

One day I think a huge push for less technology will happen but it's so new and fresh everyone is obsessed right now.

Bold part: A lot of times I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. This is a downward spiral that keeps pushing people into a corner and it bothers me. The mental gymnastics disturb me even more because it's reeks of brainwashing imo. I'm boring so I don't care who sees what, I'm not doing anything wrong and only people doing something wrong have something to worry about, I post this sh!t on my social media accounts so how can it bug me when the wrong eyes get my info, I'm okay with losing my privacy if it prevents a bad event from happening, etc.

I can't tell you how it scares the sh!t out of me. I think 'privacy' might be becoming more obsolete than the old technology referenced in this thread. Why is it becoming such an insane idea that a person wants privacy? Why does it make everybody clamp down like you're planning some shady sh!t that's gonna wreck a lot of lives? Why is it almost as if you're talking a language nobody understands if you say you're not interested in sharing your life on a social media account? Not having a social media account is viewed as being as strange and radical as getting up one morning and walking around your town while being completely naked.

How far is this sh!t going to go? Will we ever get to a point where people get fed up and say "No, this is completely  unacceptable." I fear it's gonna reach areas that I doubt even Rod Serling could've came up with. And it won't be pretty for the people that see this sh!t, are scared by it and realize they don't really have a choice or nowhere to run. The leash is still around your throat and you'll be pulled along like everybody else. The majority that don't see a problem and probably never will see a problem won't be around for support. There's no such thing as power in numbers if the larger crowd is programmed to follow the leader, don't ask questions, don't talk about your doubts, just DO IT.

MTV is going out of their way to not show videos,  The other day on TRL they showed a Rita Ora video clip for 11 seconds and then tweeted that tweet.

The execs are stupid as hell, they have no clue what works, LAUREN WATERs the casting director chose these Youtube Vine people thinking they would translate well as a host.  What a moron. YES youtube videos get views, but that does not mean they should be A Carson Daly or Ryan Seacrest, they both had media training.

The show is been reduced to 30 min starting next week, if the ratings continue to plummet VIACOM is pulling the plug on TRL and MTV

Have they considered doing album centric episodes showcasing promo for an artist (Spankin' New Music)? Britney did one for In the Zone where she showed up, co-hosted the show, talked about the album and performed. They could easily do one for say Demi Lovato, or whoever else just released a new album that's popular with the younger generation and has a big social media following.

They did for Ariana Grande in 2014

Yep. I think it was cheri who pulled up a bunch of archives of Onyx Hotel reviews -- which were not nice at all. People were complaining back then and calling her lazy, bitching about her only singing Shadow and Everytime live, etc etc. (It may have been Shadow. (the member here, lol) or someone else, Idk for sure.) Can you imagine complaining about that nowadays? So freaking surreal.

Oh my God, remember when this was the biggest controversy around her after the lipsyncing crap (*oh, and the virginity thing; I forgot that one)? There was an entire site dedicated to proving they were implants, I remember it. They used pictures of her at the Teen Choice Awards (the year she wore the white crop top with mirror pieces on it and white pants; Lynne was her date) as "proof." There was also this big "I Hate Britney Spears" website, too. Like.... :hahaha: It's been a thing since 1999.

Honestly those comments aren't as bad as what her own fans in this site say about her :gross:

I think it's very scary.

I wasn't even talking about social media for that matter. If I knew your name all I would have to do is type it in on google and it will tell me your job, age, parents...it's creepy and you or anyone didn't allow them to know that info.

Same with my phone. Today I just got a text telling me that I'm part of a data program that they track what I'm listening to, where I'm going, what sites I'm going on. Just now they tell me that and I can call and get off of it. Why would they need to know any of that? It's not their business.

Going out in public is one thing having security and such. I welcome it but there needs to be a line. It shouldn't be looked over for capitalism. I don't give a f**k if companies want to market me, they shouldn't be able to have that right to target after me online.

I can not begin to laugh with you about this. Shakes my head and it's supposed to be "We" with a capital "W." Again the Millenials and their own language and how to properly type a tweet. It's not the fact I am old or know better. It's the fact that your generation and the youth are destroying the very fabric of what is sometimes or somethings good.
