Jessie J Announces New Project ‘R.O.S.E.’ With Sun-Drenched, Honest Visual

Recommended Posts

"The music I said I didn’t want to make is what brought me back to life."

If you wondered why singer Jessie J seemingly disappeared since 2014's Sweet Talker, her emotional new visual will explain everything.

In her stunning new teaser, Jessie basks in a countryside sunset and beautifully narrates her thoughts. Where has she gone? What's going through her mind? What's next? She covers it all.

“I tried to stop and I didn’t know how to because it’s impossible to walk away from true love,” she admits. The audio is paired with gorgeous shots of Jessie wandering through a wheat field. “Art, emotion, lyrics, music, feeling is what I need to survive. I don’t do this because I want to do it, I do it because I have to.”

Jessie explains that the business side of the music industry muddied her artistry. “I lost my passion to create, to draw a line between business and art,” she says. “I’d fallen into darkness and allowed myself to be led by fear. The fear was keeping other people happy who didn’t ever care about me and I was running deeper into something and someone I wasn’t. The music I said I didn’t want to make is what brought me back to life.”

The Brit then reveals her new musical project is titled R.O.S.E., though it's not clear whether it's an album or EP at this point. “For each letter there is a word and for each word there’s a song I will share with you. I’m strong enough now to let you in, to be real and to be free. A rose is at it’s most beautiful when it’s budding new. I rose above the pain.”

Jessie previously released a buzz track titled "Real Deal," but the track that land on her DJ Camper-produced new record.

Watch the visual below in its entirety below – it's well worth your time.

Welcome back, Jessie.
