JAY-Z Readies His Thirteenth Album "4:44," Postpones Summer Tour

1 post in this topic

Hova is coming back strong on June 30.

UPDATE // JUNE 21:

Our first order of business? Jay Z's name is back to being stylized as JAY-Z. Now that that's settled...

JAY-Z had plans to embark on a summer tour, but due to the premature birth of his twins has reportedly pushed it back to the fall, a source tells Page Six.

Before then, JAY has a couple of gigs lined up, including the U.K.’s V Festival, Made in America, Austin City Limits, and The Meadows.

EARLIER // JUNE 19:

Jay Z teases his first studio album in four years.

While Beyonce takes some well-earned time off with the newborn twins, Jay Z is putting the final touches on his thirteenth studio album, titled 4:44.

The record was teased earlier in the month via cryptic posters spotted around New York. Initially, it appeared to simply be advertising a Tidal film production. However, Jay has now revealed and confirmed 4:44 as his new release, teasing a brief snippet of new song "Adnis" from the upcoming release:

The short clip takes on a boxing theme with Jay rapping about an uneven relationship with his father. The two actors featured in the clip are Mahershala Ali, who recently picked up an Oscar for Moonlight, and Danny Glover; of Lethal Weapon fame.

Sprint further confirmed 4:44 as Jay Z's upcoming album release with this tweet:

As has been standard for a few years now, the album will probably only be available exclusively to Tidal for a while. Recently, Jay raised eyebrows when he removed the majority of his music from popular streaming platform Spotify.

Jay Z's last release was 2013's Magna Carta Holy Grail, which featured the top 5 single, Holy Grail.
