Prince’s Estate Tried Blocking His New EP ‘Deliverance,’ But It’s Out Anyway: Listen

Recommended Posts

Tidal delivered.

Tidal delivered.

To honor Prince on the one-year anniversary of his death, an EP titled Deliverance containing six unreleased tracks was slated for release. That plan hit a roadblock this week when Prince’s estate and Paisley Park had filed a federal lawsuit against sound engineer George Ian Boxill for control of the Deliverance tracks, StereoGum reports. The lawsuit claims the tracks were estimated at a value of more than $75,000.

According to Billboard, the sound engineer wrote and recorded the songs with Prince between 2006 and 2008, and his claims that the late singer would want them to be heard allegedly go against a contract he previously signed.

The estate and Paisley Park requested that “any and all masters, copies and reproductions” of Prince’s work be returned to them, but despite their stern warning, the songs are available to stream via Tidal. The streaming service has had their fair share of legal trouble with Prince's estate since the late singer's death – they want Prince's entire catalogue off Tidal, but so far the music remains.

The Deliverance EP is blocked from being released on Apple Music and Amazon, but like I mentioned... Tidal came through.

Leave it up to Jay-Z and Beyonce to have zero integrity when it comes to making money. They've build an empire by buying their accolades and in return have made them "gods" to their sheep following. Disgusting. If Prince's estate is against it, they should respect them.

Especially for people who "love " him so much. It's not like the money from the ep/sales is going to charities Prince would want, all to tidal and the Carters
