Big Boi And Adam Levine Are Cool Cats On “Mic Jack”: Listen

The dance floor tells no lie.

The dance floor tells no lie.

Big Boi is venturing outside of Outkast for a minute to release another solo album. It's titled Boomiverse, the follow-up to 2012's Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (he released a collaborative album with Phantogram in 2015 under the pseudonym, Big Grams), and drops in June. The first taste of the record is “Mic Jack,” a disco-tinged tune that features Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine with production from DJ Khalil and DJ Dahi. Big Boi and Levine linked up together on a remix of Maroon 5’s 2014 song “Animals.”

"Ni--as still ain't fuckin' with Hollywood Court 'cause they fuckin' wit' ya boi like the Hollywood dough," Big Boi raps over howling echoes and a '70s-inspired throwback beat. "Everything big, no comin' up short / Jack the buzzer beater up, all net, half court."

Levine brings the funk. "You're hotter than July (super hot) / Super colder than December (so cold)," he sings. "You got me dancing' / The dancefloor tells no lies / Give them something to remember." Does his presence on it make an automatic radio friendly hit? I'm leaning towards yes, and I think Big Boi knew that.

That's not all. The Outkast MC also premiered a second song today. It's titled “Kill Jill” and features Killer Mike and Jeezy. Listen to both below.
