Linkin Park Release Sleeper Single "Battle Symphony"

Recommended Posts

The band is trying out soft rock pop.

Linkin Park continue the good fight on new song, "Battle Symphony."

I've been a huge Linkin Park fan since 2000's Hybrid Theory, so their transition into soft rock this era is a tad confusing. It feels like they're not pursuing a new sound for the sake of exploring their artistry, rather aiming to grab a No. 1. They enlisted pop heavy hitters Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter (Justin Bieber's "Sorry," Selena Gomez's "Good For You," among a zillion others) for their lead single titled "Heavy," featuring Kiiara, off their forthcoming album One More Light. The band's second taste off the record is terribly similar. It's titled "Battle Symphony," and sonically resonates with "Heavy." I'm still deciding whether that's a good thing or not.

When they turn down the lights / I hear my battle symphony," frontman Chester Bennington sings. "All the world in front of me / If my armor breaks / I'll fuse it back together."

It's not the Linkin Park we're used to, that's for sure. Listen below:

How are they going to perform "Papercut" to this?
