Back in 2006, Britney decided to take her personal life and career into her own hands. This decision birthed Britney's most mysterious and desired track to date, Rebellion, which she posted on her official website for weeks. However, the full version has yet to leak.
Saturday morning, fans made #BritneyRebellion and Rebellion world-wide trending topics on Twitter.
At the time when it debuted, Britney wasn't following direction from those closest to her, and this song couldn't have described her view of life more perfectly.
The ones closest to you
The poison they feed you
And the voodoo that they do
But in rebellion
There's a sparkle of truth
Don't just stand there
Do what you got to do
You'll find it in rebellion
Your body starts breathing
They're not believing what they're seeing
'Cause you're rebellion
You'll find it so compelling
With everyone yelling
'Cause your soul, you're not selling
'Cause you're rebellion
Fans are completely captivated by this rawness that's so rarely displayed with Britney. Where is this track in full? Why did she choose to release it? When was it recorded?
These questions we may never find answers to, but we know the track in full does exist (Britney was spotted holding a demo with tracks for Blackout back in 2007, and Rebellion was listed as one).
Will Britney's most sought after song ever hit the net? This I can't answer, but maybe there's something to be said for withholding it. Cause in rebellion, there's a sparkle of truth.
