Simon is an A&R exec, has also been involved with music publishing. He is the brain behind most of these singing audition type shows. But when asked what song he'd audition with as a contestant, his answer was "I wouldn't audition cuz I can't sing."
L.A. Reid is the Chairman and CEO of Epic Records. He also produces and writes songs. But I haven't heard him sing.
We all know Demi and Britney can sing, despite Brit not really trying to lately.
Going back to what Simon said. He wouldn't audition because he can't sing. However he CAN recognize talent in others and discover a good singer/performer.
Jennifer Lopez did a great job judging. When she performed on the finale, she lip synced. (I never saw any complaints in the news)
Paula Abdul was an exceptional judge on both shows. But back on Idol when "Dance Like There's No Tommorow" came out, she lip synced too.
The point I'm really trying to make tho, is that right now Britney is a judge. She knows what she is talking about because she knows the music business. Her singing and performing aren't under fire right now, her ability to judge is. There's a difference between all of these mentioned people giving critiques on a performance, and someone with NO knowledge or industry perspective.
If we are to accept Simon's tough judging and he admits he cannot sing, how is Britney or anyone else not held in the same regard (whether she can sing or not)?

Bow to you
That's always my rebuttal whenever anyone says Britney shouldn't be a judge because she can't sing. Yes, someone who is a pop icon and is still a highly successful recording artist after nearly 15 years in the industry has no right to judge a talent competition based not only on singing but performing. No business what so ever. The critics are totally right on this one. Let's not bash J. Lo or Paula Abdul though who are lesser versions of Britney and didn't achieve anywhere near the success Britney has in their careers. Makes total sense, just like everything else reported on Britney in the tabloids.

I agree. I don't understand why people say she has no talent and shouldn't be a judge when a lot of judges, like Simon and LA are not singers but they know about the music business. And Britney IS a singer and knows A LOT about music business. People are just being jealous bitches, tbh. LOL I just wish Britney proves them wrong with the singing and the judging. She needs to try harder, she's getting too comfortable because the fans praise her like royalty, but don't get me wrong, Ibelieve she's very humble but something tells me, and you all noticed it too, that for the last few years, she hasn't tried hard enough.

u dont have to sing as perfect to be judge just like u dont have to make movies to be a movie reviewer. To be judge its enough to have ears and eyes along with experience. So we all know Britney has them all, right?

I know... but that just shows how incredibly famous she is.
I don't think the news really ever reported that much on the X Factor/ American Idol judges before the show even start airing.. but that's different with Britney.

Ppl just like to put Britney down and underestimate her. I hate when ppl say "oh any pretty girl down the street can do what Britney does." like bitch, if that's the case, then tell me why Britney is the only female pop star from the 90's who is still relevant in music today. What happened to those girls that tried to copy what Britney did back then? Where are they now?
