She has to be and sound unique to stand out. Otherwise nothing is going to happen no matter pretty she is and no matter how amazing she dances.

The PCD started out as a burlesque dance troup and there was a ton of girls in it that were not necessarily the 6 ( Nicole, Jessica, Carmit, Melody, Ashley and Kimberly) that made the group we know.  Maybe Kaya Whatshername was part of it at its beginning.
Edit: Just googled it and came across a video where she is performing Tainted Love at Fashion Rocks 2004 along the other original 6, but according to Wikipedia ( very trustworthy I know ) she left in 2005 while they were recording their debut album because she didn't have fun and wanted to go solo. Most likely she just pressed she never saw a crumb of that solo career

I respect the fact Miley did what she did with her latest album visually and musically. She could have done the Miley antics that we have all become accustomed to. But with a year seeing countless female pop star after pop star choose sexuality over substance with no huge success. It's refreshing to see a young female pop star stick to her guns and choose to grow up and not be a slave to dying trends.

Alot of great female musicians/artist released material this past year. Their music unfortunately just wasn't played on the "radio" or given mainstream attention. That's why I find a good number of these awards shows pointless at this point.

JChristian reacted to BoyToySoldier in Nicki Minaj: I Reintroduced The Female Rapper To Pop Culture
It's 50/50. On one side, she does have a point. Lauryn Hill was the 90s along with Lil Kim and both her and Missy were the 2000's. Now Nicki shapes the 2010's. On the other side, all her signature hits are pop records. That have won pop awards and were prominently featured in the pop mainstream. She also released a pop album. That's something none of the other girls have done. I guess she gets the credit for bubblegum hip hop? Idk.

So, does Lil' Kim get credit for this then since Minaj's entire career was based off of hers? And Kim was still heavily played and featured when Nicki came in. Nicki makes it sound like there were no female MC's out when she came up. Plus, exactly what OCBoy1985 said. She is barely hip-hop. Starships, Super Bass, really? Nicki will forever be just another one of them pop girls.

Nicki is hugely successful, but why does she need to say that?

Missy Elliott, Lil Kim and others were very mainstream long before Nicki was, so her comment is FALSE.

Those comparisons are almost impossible though, honestly. Hip hop in general is really brag heavy, whereas pop music is a lot less focused on bragging lyrically. Even still, Britney is a pretty massive exception to the norm. She is undeniably one of the most humble acts in pop music, almost to the point where she pisses off her fans because it seems like she doesn't care. Nicki on the other hand does follow industry expectations, and she does admittedly have a lot to brag about. Her brand of rap has always been very influenced by braggadocio, so I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Also, it is borderline impossible to compare Nicki and Cardi B right now. Yes, Cardi bested Nicki by becoming the first female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100, but she has had one hit so far. We can compare their egos in a couple years if Cardi is still around because who knows how the industry's newcomer will adjust to the fame if she makes it that far.

The problem with Nicki is that she brags about her hits and accomplishments in her songs and does not let her work speak for itself, I mean you don't see Britney going around and rubbing her successful epic legacy in people's face, Britney's humble and lets her music and work speak for itself, that's when the love and admiration comes in, Cardi B is hella humble and  does not let fame  get to her head

I wish they would nominate Solange instead of Beyonce for a change, beyonce did nothing special this year and Solange really deserves an award her last album is so good I can't, I think Beyonce is worth the awards she's picking Cuz she's working hard, but this year I disagree.....

I haven't watched the AMA's since 2009. And considering the way album and single sales are calculated these day, does anyone even take this award show seriously anymore?

Although the right thing for him to do would be to invite Janet back  to the  Superbowl halftime show.
If he invites her and she declines the offer, I wouldn't blame her, I'd actually respect her even more (If that's possible.)

I think it's refreshing that Taylor's not shoving her political opinion down our throats.
Also, she's not an actress and from my understandig this guy was a director or some sh!t, so what does this have to do with her. I think ms Carlton is looking for some attention.

yeah I don't think Taylor has a moral or ethical obligation to comment on trump....

I believe political views are very, very private....maybe even more private than religion....ppl celebrate holidays, go to church its very public....voting IMO is a very private matter - its literally done in a private booth...so I do believe in her decision to stay silent tbh. I don't think anyone NEEDS to know who anyone else voted for.
