  1. Let's get the remix on the main page!

Can you answer a few questions for me please?

What inspired you to make the remix?

How did you go about it?

What do you want people to take away from it?

    What inspires you about Britney?

    Let me know!

What inspired you to make the remix?

Well, I wanted to make a version of the song that made it sound totally different from the original, and from anything else on the Glory album - sort of like a Femme Fatale vibe, but more spacey. I worked on an Alien mix last year that similarly changed almost all of the original song and I'm still really happy with how that one turned out, so I wanted to give it a go again.

How did you go about it?

Lots of work with Melodyne - I started with the chorus and went from there. The chorus was the hardest part to come up with - Britney never spoke or sang the "I'll do it" bit by herself in the original, so I needed to be creative to come up with a solution for that. The final chorus is a mix of the original shouted words with a vocoder over it, Britney's vocals singing "I'll do it" cut up from bits and pieces of her other songs, and some additional vocals from Heidi Montag. Work on the pre-chorus came afterward, and I wanted to make that part really different and shorter because the original song in general is already pretty repetitive. The breakdown wasn't planned but was added in from a suggestion by someone I sent a preview mix to, and I love how it came out. A lot of new harmonies were added to the song which added a lot of depth. The mix was a lot of fun to do, but it took a long time, mostly just due to tweaking small things here and there. Britney's voice is so much fun to work with; she really has the perfect pop voice.

What do you want people to take away from it?

Just because you don't like a song in one form, doesn't mean you can't like it in another! Remixes can bring a whole new perspective to a song. I think sometimes people can write off remixes, but in reality every song gets mixed and retooled multiple times before it's completed. And remixes can be any genre, so there's something out there for everyone.

      What inspires you about Britney?

Britney's artistry is a huge inspiration. Everytime is one of the best ballads ever, period. Glory showed a lot of what fans already knew Britney was good at. She's a great songwriter, and she doesn't get enough credit for it. She's also completely relatable. She's shy and a dork, and that's why we all love her.
