emiliejean got a reaction from Saint Sebastian in Katy Perry Explains the Meaning Behind "Swish Swish"
"Swish represents liberation from all the negative that doesn't serve you."
We see right through you, Katy.
Despite her insistence that her songs are not about any one person, all signs point to Katy's newest Witness track being about nemesis Taylor Swift. From the pointed lyrics to the Nicki Minaj feature, who is also known for having beef with Taylor, it's hard to deny the allusions to the "Bad Blood" singer. When Katy dropped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to promote the track and her forthcoming album, Jimmy addressed the issue head one, asking the question that's on everyone's mind: Is Swish Swish about anyone we know?
Katy tactfully avoided any mention of Taylor, responding: "I think it's a great anthem for people to use whenever someone's trying to hold you down or bully you."
She went to explain that the song is all part of her quest for liberation: "It's just like 360 degree liberation. Chained to the Rhythm was this political liberation. Bon Appétit was a sexual liberation and now Swish represents liberation from all the negative that doesn't serve you."
She may not want to say it, but I think it's safe to say Swift is definitely Perry's target with this one.
Watch Katy discuss the track and her upcoming tour below:
She also explained the symbolism of the Witness album cover (something about her third eye?), opened up about her Vogue cover shoot and teased her upcoming SNL performance, calling it "lively" and "spectacular".
Katy is performing on Saturday Night Live tonight (May 20th) on NBC, alongside host Dwayne Johnson.
Thoughts? Do you think it's about Taylor?
emiliejean got a reaction from CristMont in Confirmed: Adele to Perform at the 2017 Grammys
It's the good news you needed today.
Our prayers have been answered.
After a shaky performance at last year's awards show, Adele will return to the Grammy stage to blow us all away like only she can. Her performance was pretty much a sure-thing after a producer for the show confidently asserted that both Adele and Beyonce would perform: "We have every anticipation that both of them will be with us in February."
But now it's official. The Recording Academy tweeted out the announcement this morning (Jan. 20th), bringing some much-needed good news to an otherwise dark day:
Adele joins already-announced performers John Legend, Carrie Underwood, Metallica and Keith Urban. It's sure to be a big night for the 10-time Grammy winner, who could possibly go away with another 5 awards when the show airs February 12th from the Staples Center in LA.
Beyonce, you next?

Stream "The Search for Everything - Wave One" now.
New John Mayer is just what we needed after a long week.
After a brief hiatus from the spotlight, John Mayer is back in full swing. Back in November, Mayer reminded us how much we missed his smooth vocals and light guitar riffs when he dropped "Love on the Weekend", his first single in 2 years. He told fans to expect much more music in the new year, saying: “There are more songs than can fit on your standard sized album, but I do think next year is the year of more music coming than I’ve ever put out in one year.”
He seems to be delivering on his promise today, gifting the world with the first wave of his new album "The Search for Everything". The album teaser features "Love on the Weekend" and three brand new tracks: "Moving On and Getting Over", "Changing" and "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me". He delivered the news on social media, tweeting "These songs represent literally hundreds of hours of living inside of these little worlds" and promising that there is "more to come":
The EP was produced by many of the same people behind his 2006 album "Continuum" and is exactly the breezy romantic fare we've come to expect from the singer.
Stream the entire EP here or take a listen to the new tracks below, and trust me, you'll be left wanting more:

emiliejean got a reaction from Born2Die in Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC Fight Zombies in 'Dead 7' Trailer
They are joined by fellow boy banders from 98 Degrees and O-Town in the most surreal film ever made.
"Say Bye Bye Bye to zombies."
Members of your favorite 90s/early 2000s boy bands have teamed up to combat zombies in the Syfy movie 'Dead 7' and we are just as surprised as you are that this is actually a real thing.
The Nick Carter-produced movie brings together Nick, A.J. McLean and Howie Dorough, from the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC's most up-for-anything members Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, one of the guys from 98 Degrees who is NOT a Lachey (Jeff Timmons), and the guys from O-Town: Erik-Michael Estrada, Jacob Underwood, Trevor Penick, and Dan Miller.
The trailer casts the boy banders as cowboys in a Western-style apocalyptic world in which they must fend off zombies to survive. 'Dead 7' looks like good, campy fun, but if it doesn't feature a carefully choreographed and perfectly synchronized dance break, then what's the point?
Shocker: Justin Timberlake does not make an appearance in the film.
Enjoy the most bizarre video you'll watch all day:
'Dead 7' airs on April 1st on Syfy.
I know I'll be tuning in...Will you?
emiliejean got a reaction from riccus in Céline Dion Performs Tribute to Her Late Husband at First Show Since His Death
Céline Dion returned to the stage last night for the first time since her husband René Angélil passed away from throat cancer in January.
Céline's first show back at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which started with a video tribute to René, served as a touching tribute to her beloved husband. The understandably emotional singer, who lost her brother to cancer just 2 days after the death of her husband, was greeted by thunderous applause as she walked on stage and performed a string of her greatest hits, all in honour of René. Starting with "With One More Look at You", then launching into some of her most heart-wrenching ballads, including "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" and "Because You Loved Me", she sang beautifully and honoured René as only she can.
In between songs, Céline shared a few touching words about her husband. She spoke of her deep connection with René, saying: "We will always be one" and revealed that she still feels his presence in her life: "It is pretty amazing that since he's… physically no longer with me, he is even more present."
Speaking in French, she thanked the crowd for their support and said: "I will never live without René. He will always be with me."
The first 20 minutes of the show were broadcast via livestream. You can watch her moving tribute below:

emiliejean got a reaction from DJSLAYZEE in Macy Gray Asks for Peace in Politically-Charged 'All I Want for Christmas'
Macy wishes for social change in her new holiday song.
Macy Gray wants something more than presents this Christmas.
Macy Gray released a Christmas song yesterday, and although it may share a nearly identical title to Mariah Carey's classic "All I Want for Christmas is You", the songs really could not be more different.
Instead of the usual light-hearted holiday fare, the "I Try" singer's holiday song "All I Want for Christmas" is a politically-charged plea for change. Macy starts off the song by noting that what she is wishing for this Christmas can't be bought at a store, because what she really wants is to make the world a better place. She then goes on to list the important political and social changes that she is wishing for this holiday season, including gun control and free health care.
Don't let the cheery melody fool you, these are serious issues that the "Time of My Life" singer is taking on. Other items on Macy's Xmas list include more opportunity for those less fortunate, better care for the environment and stronger action to stop global warming.
Throughout the song, Gray does not shy away from sharing what she believes in and even takes a jab at presidential hopeful Donald Trump with the lyric: "that Mr. Trump he's an entertaining guy, but let's face it really, is he qualified?"
Ultimately, the song is a plea for peace: "Santa can you swing more love? More peace? Cuz that's what everybody needs" she sings in the chorus, asking Santa, and the listener, to "come save the world" with her.
Check out the song's lyric video here:
The song itself is quite catchy and we commend Macy for bringing light to important issues this Christmas. It's a good reminder that, while presents and material things can be nice, they aren't everything. We could all use more peace this holiday season.
What do you think of Macy's take on a holiday tune?

You're gonna wanna take a break from listening to 25 to watch this skit.
Will the real Adele please stand up?
To coincide with Adele's long-awaited album 25 dropping today, the BBC aired a concert special in the UK, showcasing live performances as well as a sit-down interview with Graham Norton.
As part of the hour-long special, the singer also teamed up with Graham for a hilarious segment in which she pretended to be an Adele impersonator. The "When We Were Young" singer donned a disguise, that included a prosthetic nose and chin and altered her voice and walk to blend in with the other impersonators for a round of auditions.
Calling herself "Jenny", Adele managed to fool the impersonators, which is pretty impressive considering they have devoted their lives to studying Adele's every move and attempting to be like her.
They can only be fooled for so long though. When it comes time for Jenny to audition, they quickly recognize Adele's famous voice and, naturally, freak the hell out.

Adele may the queen of heartbreak, but she's also damn funny, guys. Thoughts?
emiliejean got a reaction from Godney's Sweet Ass in Happy Birthday Shania: 5 Reasons Why Her Career Is Iconic
To celebrate Shania Twain's 50th birthday, BreatheHeavy is giving you a crash-course on the epic-ness that is Shania's career.
1. She did country-pop before it was a thing.
Back in 1997, Shania became a pioneer in the country world when she released "Come on Over", an album that combined pop and country, and went on to become a huge crossover success. While it is now commonplace for artists to mix genres, at the time, it was pretty innovative. She released hit songs like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" and "Up!", that transcended the boundaries of country music and paved the way for artists like Taylor Swift to combine genres so successfully.
2. She sold a ton of albums.
Come On Over, her third studio album released in 1997, sold more than 40 million copies worldwide, and is still to this day the best-selling studio album by a female act and the best-selling country album of all time. Bow down.
3. She's a fighter.Shania took a break from the music scene back in 2004, after many gruelling years of recording and touring. During her hiatus, she went through a very public divorce from her long-time producer and co-writer Mutt Lange. The "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" singer was then diagnosed with dysphonia, a condition that affects the vocal cords and interfered with her ability to sing. Shania later revealed in her 2011 OWN docu-series "Why Not with Shania Twain" that she wasn't sure if she would ever be able to perform live again. Plagued by fears of never singing again, the Grammy winner set out to recover her voice, enlisting the help of doctors, therapists and vocal coaches. Not only did Shania get her voice back, she went on the perform an incredibly successful two-year residency at Caesar's Palace, marking one of the most impressive comebacks in music history.
4. She's a midriff bearing pioneer.Think Britney was the first to expose her bellybutton? Think again! Shania wore countless midriff bearing outfits throughout the years, at a time when it wasn't super common to do so, especially not among country singers. Oh and she also looked amazing doing so.
5. She's still got it.
Over 20 years into her incredible career, the Canadian superstar is still killing it. When her residency ended in December 2014, Shania announced that she would be embarking on a farewell North American tour, her first in 11 years. The "Rock This Country Tour", which kicked off in June, is selling out arenas left and right and has already grossed $40 million, according to Billboard. She has been killing it night after night, looking and sounding better than ever.
Despite this being her last tour, Twain announced that she is not retiring from music and that she plans on releasing an album before her 51st birthday. I personally cannot wait to see what Shania has in store for us next!
What are some of your favorite Shania moments? Sound off in the comments!
emiliejean got a reaction from MakeMe... in Iggy Azalea Wants An Album Without Filler Songs
Iggy Azalea is in Australia as brand ambassador for Bonds to celebrate the underwear company's 100th birthday.
She took the time to do a few interviews, and tackled issues like new music and her plans for a future tour.
In a radio interview, she spoke about the new approach she is taking for her sophomore album. She admits that on The New Classic, her debut album, she settled for having a few filler songs, stating "the approach was really trying to find big smash singles or songs that I thought that would be something multiple generations would like at the same time (...) I was going in with that attitude and anything that fell a little short was like, ‘well, it can make it on the album'."
See pictures of Iggy Azalea in Bonds underwear on the main page of BreatheHeavy.
When it came time to work on her new LP, Iggy decided to take the time to create a high quality album start-to-finish. "My goal was just to make something that I love every song on my album,” she revealed. “That’s really tough when you’re an artist — to actually not have any complaints and be fully satisfied with every song. I wanted no filler.”
As for touring?
You may remember that the "Black Widow" singer cancelled her Great Escape arena tour back in May. She blamed the cancellation on being a perfectionist and not feeling that the show was ready for public consumption.
During a press conference in Sydney, the rapper promised that she will be making it up to fans with a tour for her new album."Once my album comes out I plan to come back and it will happen. I just don't want to do it until my album is out" she stated. "So once that happens I will cement a plan and I will let you guys know". So when can fans expect to see Iggy on a stage near them? The "Fancy" singer revealed that new music and a tour are coming soon, "definitely in the first half of next year".
Iggy certainly has a long way to go to get back in music fans' good graces, after cancelling her tour and becoming a punching bag for internet trolls everywhere. Here's hoping Iggy's new album and tour can help her regain the respect of the public.
Are you excited for new Iggy?
