  1. I think I'm falling out of love with Britney. I can't be a fan anymore of someone who doesn't care. She got so many undeserved chances.

I dislike a lot of her current performances too. I'm also someone that's very disappointed whenever something is scrapped or not used to it's potential. However, that doesn't stop me from enjoying all the music and having all the memories she's given me over the years. I won't ever stop supporting her for those reasons alone. She made me smile when I was going through rough stuff. I want the best for her, but I'm not going to turn my back on her just because she didn't have the best VMA performance of the night.

Well IMO, there's a difference between being in love with an artist versus being their fan. The former suggests extreme loyalty, dedication and unconditional support regardless of what they are creating/delivering in their career. The latter, however, leaves room for more objectivity; you can remain a fan of certain aspects of an artist (whether it be their previous collection of works, current music, etc) without the assumption of your tacit endorsement of everything they do.

ETA: That's not to say, however, that I blindly encourage you to simply remain a detached fan of someone who really doesn't excite you anymore. Life is very short; it shouldn't be wasted on people or things we feel "meh" about. I think finding ways to ignite passion within your life is one of the most important ways to spend our limited time on earth; if Britney's musical/artistic endeavors no longer provide you with that sense of passion, then there is no reason for you not to move on. :)
