Ed Sheeran Calls Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl Performance “Incredible”

UPDATE // MARCH 7:

Is it safe to say now Ed Sheeran was not talking about / shading Lady Gaga in his interview with Zane Lowe? When asked his thoughts on Gaga "replacing" Beyonce at Coachella at the iHeartAwards on Sunday, Sheeran said he was blown away. Watch here:

EARLIER // MARCH 6:

Little Monsters go in on Ed Sheeran.

Today should be a day of celebration. Ed's much-anticipated new album Divide is finally upon us, and it's genuinely really great. As artists do on occasions such as these, Ed is making the rounds to promote the record. He dropped by Beats 1 for an in-depth interview with Zane Lowe. In that chat, Ed produced a very seething soundbite for social media to dissect. His ego is out of control right now, and this insight certainly doesn't help:

“I don’t want to be the artist who had two big albums and then went up their own are," he said. "I have to know when to listen to people. Otherwise I’ll end up like artist that you’ve interviewed over the years who you’ve seen be the biggest artists in the world, and then suddenly they’re like ‘I know everything!’ And then they’re no longer the biggest. The smartest thing to do is listen to people who know what they’re talking about.”

...

“I feel like all through my career, I’ve always been second fiddle. There’s always been someone bigger than me, and I think with this album I… I do neat this to be the biggest record in the world, and I think it will be.”

For one reason or another, fans of Lady Gaga's believe he's taking aim at Mother Monster, despite Ed never mentioning her name or likeness in any obvious way. However, all logic is lost when a #_________IsOverParty begins trending worldwide on Twitter.

As Gaga says, "everybody's gotta love each other."
