So what is the truth?
Ed Sheeran is in promo mode and probably hasn't slept much since "Shape Of You" dropped a few weeks back, so excuse him and his inflated ego for any brazen misunderstandings.
Last week, Sheeran said his best friend, Taylor Swift, whom he calls "the most famous woman in the world," wouldn't release her 1989 followup until the end of 2017 because... Ed needs his year. "Taylor isn't going to be releasing until probably the end of this year. Christmas is the smartest time to release because that's when everyone buys records," he said. "So I've got a full year of just all Ed, all the time."
While he didn't clarify whether her album plans are on track, Sheeran did reveal his schedule is too busy to coordinate a collaboration with Swift. “It is certainly not going to happen this year,” he said. “She’s definitely taking all the time off that she needs in the world.” He adds they will “definitely” work together again in the future, but if it's not this year, and the "Bad Blood" singer is readying a new album for 2017... then when? Take everything with a grain of salt.
