Ariana Grande can sing the hell out of anything. Including a... country song?!
Grande is gearing up to sing a string of pop songs on her upcoming Dangerous Woman Tour, but she's got her sights set on being the next big thing in country music.
"My grandpa, he always wanted me to do something in the country world. I don't know if that would ever happen," she told Elvis Duran for Entertainment Tonight at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas last weekend.
It's an interesting crossover for sure, but entirely believable. Lady Gaga pursued a jazz record with Tony Bennett after four solo studio albums. The experience helped shape her forthcoming record Joanne, which is the furthest departure from her pop roots as any previous works. Grande may experience a similar evolution down the road.
"If that opportunity, when it comes along," Grande continued, "I'd have to say, 'Hell yeah!'" "My dad was a really big Dixie Chicks fan," she said, "so that's the most country I've been exposed to."
"I definitely need to do more country music homework," she affirmed.
