Demi Lovato looked confident during her set at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City's Central Park on Saturday.
Selena Gomez alerted fans last month she's taking a break and canceling the duration of her Revival tour to take care of herself after complications from Lupus started to take a toll. She was also slated to headline the Global Citizen Festival, but also backed out to focus on her health. Fortunately, another pop star stepped in to help: Demi Lovato.
"The Global Citizen Festival combines music and activism in a way that inspires and affects millions around the world," Lovato said earlier this month. "I am proud to support this amazing organization's ongoing efforts to improve global healthcare and to end extreme poverty."
Following a performance of Gomez's "Kill Em With Kindness" by a boys’ choir from Kenya, the "Body Say" singer kicked off her set with “Confident,” followed by “For You” and “Stone Cold.”
“Thank you Global Citizens, especially all of you who are working toward the global goal of gender equality, and standing up for women and girls everywhere,” Lovato told the crowd. “This next song is inspired and it’s lifting up women everywhere for years, even since before I was born, and it still does,” she continued. “This is called ‘You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman,’ and it goes out to women and girls all over the world.”
Lovato ended with “Cool For The Summer.” Watch:
