Covering Adele isn't an easy task.
Only a handful of singers are actually capable of tackling Adele's discrography and Demi Lovato is one of them. Almost a year after her rendition of "Hello," the former Disney darling took on the challenge of covering "When We Were Young," the Brit diva's second single off 25
It took place during the Friday night (September 2) stop of her and Nick Jonas' "Future Now Tour" at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena. Keeping in line with the original Ariel Rechtshaid-produced number, Demi succeeded at evoking some of the somber warmth that Adele exudes so well with her version of the Top 15 hit. Props for hitting that mega-note at the end of the bridge, too! Prior to the number, Demi gushed about the song, calling it one of her all-time favorites. "I've never performed it before, so I'm a little nervous," she told the crowd. "Hopefully I can do it justice."
We've never been one to question Demi's vocal chops. In fact, she has one of the more dynamic voices amongst her pop peers. Still, one can only wonder why she doesn't record better material. Don't get us wrong. There are definitely highlights throughout her catalogue, but with such a powerful voice, it'd be nice to see her stand out from the pack with more impressive tunes.
Oh, and in case you missed it, there's reportedly no video in the works for "Body Say," so get your Demi fix by checking her out on tour until the end of October.
