Pink insists she has no beef with Demi.
Pink had a lot to say following last Sunday’s MTV VMAs. She reportedly took to Instagram to express her disappointment with the award show, saying “I felt embarrassed and sad. And old. We’re getting old. But in all seriousness; I felt sad because music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won’t save any kids life.”
She went on to single out the few parts of the night that she did enjoy: “Beside Macklemore and phar. and bieber (pre-sob fest) and the weekend, Tori Kelly was dope too. The rest was gross and embarrassing and hard for this aging pop star to believe.”
Fans couldn’t help but notice that certain performances, including Demi Lovato’s performance of her new single “Cool for the Summer”, were left out, leaving them to believe that Pink was dissing Demi. The “Heart Attack” singer must have gotten wind of the supposed diss, as she took to Twitter to defend her performance, namely against Pink’s insinuation that it failed to inspire:
Cool For The Summer may not "save kid's lives" or "inspire" but I'd say Skyscraper & Warrior have done a pretty good job of helping people— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
cope with mental illness. VMA's are sexy and fun. There's a time and place for everything.— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
Demi also clarified that while “Cool for the Summer” might not be her most inspirational track, her upcoming album “Confident” will feature plenty of Demi’s signature emotion-filled songs.
I'm excited for you all to hear the inspirational/honest/soulful songs on this album. #Lionheart #Father #StoneCold #Confident… Oct. 16!!— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
Not long after, Pink posted a series of tweets defending her comments and assuring the Lovatics that she has no problem with Demi. She also expressed her disappointment with the current state of the world, in which people turn every little comment into a personal attack:
Please look for a feud elsewhere. I have no issue with Demi Lovato or anyone else. I actually forgot she performed. I have opinions. MANY— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
I stand by what I said. However, I didn't intend for the angry people of the world to latch on and make it into something it isn't. Peace ✌️— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
You know, this is part of why I'm sad about the VMas and the world in general. Everyone is so nasty and waiting for a fight. I never said— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
Anything about Demi Lovato or called out anyone. I was talking to a friend in response to his disappointment about the show. I agree w him.— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
You can make this into whatever you like, cause that's who we are now, I guess. I'm out— P!nk (@Pink) September 4, 2015
We can’t help but agree with Pink’s statement that people are always waiting for a fight. It is unfortunate that fans will look for any excuse to create rivalries between artists where there are none, and will pounce on anyone who dares to say anything remotely negative.
