It's not happening.
We saw this coming. In June, Iggy had enough of the drama trying to release Digital Distortion. “i just want to put [the album] out and be done with it and hopefully start a new album i can finish fast and put out without all these issues,” she wrote.
Iggs added: “[Def Jam] would have liked me to have a hit to drive the album sales but they are probably seeing now that is unlikely.” She adds: “its not their fault. they need media etc to actually give the platforms FOR the promo. label cant just force me onto tv and into mags etc.”
And yeah, that "Switch" music video with Anitta will never see the light of day, either.
UPDATE: Iggy hopped on Twitter to clarify. She IS still releasing a single, but the track she wanted to collaborate with Banks on will just be a one-off. She also added "Banks is still very much welcome to collab w. me," which I suppose means they don't have anything locked in yet. A mess.
That collaboration between Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks that was "officially on" is definitely off.Def Jam has no chill! The label refuses to release any more singles for Iggy Azalea. What does that mean? Not only is Iggy's Digital Distortion album dead in the water, but so is her collaboration with Banks. The Harlem rapper shared the news in an Instagram story. "Iggy Azalea collab is def not happening as Def Jam says they aren't releasing anymore singles for her." She added: "The disrespect. Meanwhile I just spent another two days in the studio with his corny ass helping him write raps. Like I sat there and worked for the ni**a…"
Misinformation. Iam releasing a single. The song i had in mind for us is not a single, Banks is still very much welcome to collab w. me 🙂— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) August 16, 2017
