UPDATE: Deadmau5 has responded to Kanye’s name-calling:

Well that’s awkward.

Aside from a one-day window where the album was offered on his website before getting pulled, Kanye West’s latest album The Life Of Pablo was exclusive to streaming service Tidal. The move doubled Tidal’s subscribers to 2.5 million and also prompted over 500,000 illegal downloads in one day using popular pirating sites like The Pirate Bay. Rumor had it Kanye was looking into his legal options to sue torrent / file-sharing websites that offered his album for free, so this revelation from producer Deadmau5 couldn’t come at a worse time for Kanye.

On Tuesday, the “Wolves” rapper shared a screenshot of him listening to Sufjan Stevens’ “Death With Dignity” on YouTube but forgot to close out his other opened tabs – one is a Google search for a torrent of Xfer Records’ Serum, the other is the page result… on The Pirate Bay. Serum is a digital synthesizer plug-in coded by Deadmau5’s friend Steve Duda who sells it via his Xfer Records imprint, reports Billboard. Deadmau5 put Kanye on blast: “What the fuck @kanyewest … Can’t afford serum? Dick.”

You may recall Kanye admitted he’s $53 million in personal debt.

West responded Wednesday morning, saying: “# ok very serious question… # who’s job is it to carry the head on the plane # hash tag # do you check the mickey mouse head or carry on # does it get hot? # ok another super serious question … is there a portable fan situation?”

We imagine Kanye will hold off on that lawsuit for now.

In other news… Kanye revealed the cover art and release date (March 4) for Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz’s joint album.
