Taylor Swift has a million dollar question to answer.
She's arguably one of the most successful entertainers of our generation (and a national lightning rod for slut-shaming, according to her). 1989 dominated the charts and propelled the singer into unchartered territory. There's a lot of pressure to surpass herself with her upcoming sixth studio album, so she left behind the chaos of (welcome to) New York and journeyed to Nashville, TN, where she's hiding away to nurture the sound of the next LP. According to a new report from Entertainment Tonight, it's unclear whether Tay will craft another pop album, or return to her beloved country roots; she's undecided.
A source tells ET that Swift "has been busy working on her upcoming album" and has plans to release it before the year's end.
Ed Sheeran reflected that in an interview last month. He let it slip Tay's album will drop in the holiday season. "Taylor isn't going to be releasing until probably the end of this year. Christmas is the smartest time to release because that's when everyone buys records," he said.
He also shed some light as to how her music never leaks. "She would never send new songs, no," Ed said. "I hear them but it has to be with her." But if he's unable to be with her, things get interesting. "I remember when I did a song with her for her album, I was in San Francisco, and they sent someone with a locked briefcase with an iPad and one song on it, and they flew to San Francisco, and played the song I've done with her," he recalled. "And they asked if I like it and I was like, 'Yeah,' and then they took it back, that's how I hear it."
If Swift wants to tap into her country roots, I'd understand, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want another flawless pop record from her.
