Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars lit up the The Super Bowl halftime show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA on Sunday.
Lady Gaga’s performance of the National Anthem was a tough act to follow, but Coldplay delivered. They sang a string of hits throughout their career. They opened with “Viva La Vida.”
“Wherever you are… we’re in this together,” frontman Chris Martin said into the camera.
They followed it up with “Paradise,” then A Head Full Of Dreams’ lead-single “Adventure Of A Lifetime.” During the latter, the field bloomed with colorful flowers props, the stage projecting swirling flower graphics.
Mid-way through the set, Bruno Mars jumped in with his No. 1 charting hit “Uptown Funk.” Rocking a black leather suit, Mars and his dancers aced some serious choreography.
Beyonce was next… making her highly anticipated appearance by singing “Formation.” She and Mars jumped into a remix/mashup of “Formation” and “Uptown Funk” with a little dance battle.
Before Coldplay returned to the stage, they displayed past performers of the halftime show, including Katy Perry, Missy Elliott. Martin sang excerpts from “Clocks,” Prince’s “Purple Rain” and U2’s “Beautiful Day.”
Beyonce, Mars and Coldplay banded together at the end to close out the show with a performance of “Up & Up.”
