It was a behind-the-scenes battle to secure that open Coachella spot.
News broke on Tuesday (Feb. 28) that Lady Gaga would replace Beyonce at Coachella in April, but according to a new report from ConsequenceOfSound, she had stiff competition. They report festival organizers were scrambling to fill Queen Bey's spot with another major pop artist, and approached Adele, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, and Nine Inch Nails.

Mother Monster was the ultimate winner; she will become the first woman to headline the festival since Björk in 2007, but if Gaga couldn't commit my personal vote would be for Rih. How bout you?
