Ciara is not holding back this time.
The "Goodies" singer has had a turbulent few years; after years of label drama things were looking up for her in 2013 when she found love and critical acclaim by getting together with rapper Future, then she gave birth to their son last year and eight months later the engagement was called off after he was ~allegedly~ found cheating on tour while she was at home with the baby.
Now that you're caught up, you'll understand why she's putting her ex on blast on the new single "I Bet," as she sings about the pain he caused her and trying to let go. "I imagine this song will be very meaningful for a lot of people. It is much bigger than any one person’s experience," Ciara told Billboard.
You can keep that bitch over there givin’ me the ugly stare / The one with the silicone ass and the Brazilian hair
"I Bet" is a mid-tempo R&B track that leans towards the smoother '90s sound of early Brandy or even Ciara's earlier ballads, which might lead to people saying it sounds dated but I think it's true to Ciara and she definitely makes it worth the listen. Her voice sounds better than ever (those notes at the end though? Who knew!) and she really pours her heart out.
Welcome back, CiCi.
