Ciara Drops Defamation Lawsuit Against Future

UPDATE // JANUARY 7, 2017:

New year, new Ciara.

Future dropped his suit against Ciara last summer, and it took the R&B singer half-a-year to play along. According to TMZ, the Jackie singer has dropped her $15 million defamation lawsuit against him.

At one point, she was worried Future would physically harm new husband Russell Wilson.

Ciara is pregnant with her second child with Wilson, and it's clear she's ready to put the whole ordeal behind her.

Now that the dust has settled... Future wants to make amends.

Ciara faced a setback in the custody battle with ex-Future over their son Future Zahir Wilburn last month when she explained to a judge that her ex Future is a bad parent to their son and wanted full custody, but the judge wasn't buying it. Future asked for joint custody, and the judge agreed.

In February, Cici filed a $15 million defamation lawsuit against Future for public slander. He called her a bad mother. Future filed a countersuit which he claims that even though the singer is "reasonably large," her last album, Jackie, was a "flop," so she doesn't have enough hype around her to even warrant any slander to her rep, but that's been dropped, according to TMZ. Now that he has more time with his son, he's willing to let bygones be bygones.

Sources close to the rapper tell us he wants to calm the waters after scoring joint custody of baby Future. We're told Future is worried if he goes after Ciara in court she'll continue her efforts to restrict his custodial rights, and his son is more important than a court judgment.

If Ciara doesn't let up, she'll have to prove Future's words caused her irreparable harm to her personal and professional affairs.

So far, she hasn't budged.
