Cher Will Receive The Icon Award, Perform “Believe” At 2017 Billboard Music Awards

Make way for the legend.

The Billboard Music Awards announced their star-studded lineup last week. It includes performances from Bruno Mars, Camila Cabello, Celine Dion, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Florida Georgia Line, Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Lorde, Nicki Minaj and “many more.”

One of those "many more" includes Cher.

It was announced today she will receive Billboard's Icon Award as well as perform 1998 hit "Believe." The Billboard Icon Award was established in 2011 to recognize music singers and contribution. Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Jennifer Lopez and Celine Dion have been honored with it in years' past.

“I’m honored to receive the 2017 Billboard Music Awards ICON Award and take the stage to celebrate my love of music with my fans,” said Cher in a statement. “Seeing so many powerful artists – especially female artists emerge and take their place in history through the years – has been incredible. I’m honored to be amongst the previous ICON Award winners and to celebrate this milestone achievement by performing ‘Believe’ on the show.”

Cher recently kicked off a residency in Vegas. The BBMAs will broadcast live from the T-Mobile Arena in Sin City on Sunday, May 21 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT on ABC.

Recognizing talent.
