Ready or not, Charli XCX is about to drop some new tunes.
Five months ago, Charli XCX told fans she was this close to finalizing her next studio record, yet here we are... albumless. That's not to say she hasn't released anything this year – the British pop star put forth a unique electro-pop EP titled Vroom Vroom and launched a record label of the same name. The uniqueness of each song was a promising sign for Charli, who assured fans this year her new LP "could change the sound of pop music."
More than half the year has zipped by and there's still no deliberate signs the 23-year-old has anything in store for us... that is, until she clarified in an interview with The Standard fans can expect to hear her new catalogue "soon."
“I’m going to be putting a record out soon and it’s going to be the most pop thing I’ve done," she said. ""I’m just finishing it but I can’t say anything yet. I’ve been in LA chilling and it’s great to be back in London.”
The Sucker singer also said this year it's "the most pop [..] and the most electronic" album she had produced yet and it seems that statement still holds true as she has collaborated with SOPHIE, BloodPop and Stargate for the bulk of the songs. SOPHIE produced the brilliant "Vroom Vroom" that was debuted on Beats 1 Radio last year. "There are some high-octane plastic moments and then more piano ballad situations," Charli went on to say.
