Celebrate Katy Perry’s VMA Hosting Announcement With Nick*’s Zippy Remix Of “This Is How We Do”

RA-SPECT!

We'll have a lot to witness at the 2017 VMAs next month. Katy Perry is not only nominated five times (and probably performing, it's just not announced yet), but she's hosting the show as well.

Let's kick off the festivities early and remind ourselves how she achieved such responsibilities in the first place. Remix artist Nick* put his magic touch on Prism track "This Is How We Do." It's one of 10 new edits from his 2017 Summer series playlist. BreatheHeavy also covered his electro-tinged remix of Britney Spears' "Do You Wanna Come Over", a slick reinterpretation of *NSNYC's "Girlfriend" and the '80s synth-tastic re-working of Ariana Grande's "Into You."

"I actually did this mix back in 2014, but got caught up with other tracks and it fell off my radar," Nick* admits to BreatheHeavy.com. "I fell in love with the old school vibe of the original, so I wanted to exaggerate that aspect of it with a heavy beat and FM bass synth. Decided it was perfect to add to this Summer playlist, so I made some tweaks and off it went."

He adds: "I made the bass line follow her vocal rhythm a little more and added a heavier snare than the original so it cut through some more. I kept it more bare bones compared to the original too so it had less of a swirling synth vibe."
