UPDATE: Every few weeks, a new version of the ongoing storyline that Fifth Harmony is disbanding pops up. The latest speculation claims Camila Cabello's bandmates are "frustrated with the amount of time Camilla is spending on pursuing a solo career." They also cite her friendship with Taylor Swift as another cause for friction. Swift? A pot stirrer? Never.
EARLIER // AUGUST 25:
Camila Cabello is talking strictly music with V Magazine.
The elephant in the room here is Cabello has been putting feelers out towards a swift exit from Fifth Harmony, but the 19-year-old won't elaborate on that. We do know she's been recording solo material with the likes of Diplo and Cashmere Cat (the latter might be titled "Roses" and might drop on Friday).
Until we have confirmation from Cabello, we'll just assume this was an innocent one-off interview.
“I think songwriting was the biggest way that I found my identity,” she tells V. “It’s hard to know who you are when you start doing that stuff, and songwriting has helped me stay sane throughout this whole thing.”
She lights up when asked about her song with Shawn Mendes for "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
“I felt like that was the first time I got to show people who I am and the music that I was writing while we were doing the mall tours—all the shitty demos on my laptop that nobody knew I was doing,” she said.
Cabello also gets playlists to deal with heartbreak from veteran Taylor Swift.
“If I’m going through a rough time with a boy or if there’s boy drama, she’ll be like, ‘Here’s a playlist I made when I was going through that,’ or she’ll call me to talk about it,” Cabello admits. “She’s always teaching me. She’s given me such great advice. And honestly, just seeing her live her life? You learn from it. She’s so graceful.”
