Just like a moth drawn to a flame
One day after her explosive statements about the likelihood Fifth Harmony will eventually break up because they're "manufactured," news surfaced she and 17-year-old pop sensation Shawn Mendes have a song together.
An insider tells Billboard Mendes wrote the song while he was opening for Taylor Swift on her 1989 Tour.
If the duet is indeed happening, Cabello undoubtedly has her sights set on a solo career. “Honestly, I think we all do," she said when asked if they'd eventually dismember. "We’d be lying if we all said this is a picture- perfect thing, like we all completely agreed on the album track list and what the sound and the music-video treatment would be like, which usually happens in bands who grew up together. But for manufactured bands, it’s harder. The cool part is that we allow one another to do our own thing within this thing. I think it’s healthy because if not, personally, I would go insane.”
She says of One Direction's break: “It’s so sad. But, at the same time, I understand where they’re coming from. They’ve been together for a long time. I didn’t know creatively how difficult it would be to be in a group — especially when it’s manufactured…it gets to a point where they just need to express themselves.”
Cabello and Mendes are a rumored couple, though she denies it, telling Latina mag this week they are just “really, really, really close.”
Looks like we'll have to wait until their song drops to find out just how close.
