As the dust settles following the drama surrounding Camila Cabello's exit from Fifth Harmony, and her former bandmates dueling public statements about the debacle, Cabello has plans to strike up solo superstardom in the immediate future.
EW reports Cabello, as well as all of the members of Fifth Harmony, are individually signed to Epic Records, a division of Sony, and is likely to stay put as she continues work on her forthcoming record which they claim drops in 2017.
A source close to Sony told The Sun: “Camila has a very good relationship with both Simon and LA Reid (who runs Epic Records) and she knows both of them are very supportive and believe in her.”
Machine Gun Kelly Defends Camila Cabello: "I Don't Like Seeing Someone Get Picked On"
"Next year I will be working on my own music and giving you a big chunk of my heart," Cabello told fans in a note explaining her departure from the band. "Now I gotta walk the walk. I have always encouraged you to be fearless, to live your life in the name of love and to do what makes you happy...as scary as it is to take the leap, I am excited and full of joy because I know that no matter what happens, I am following my heart. I hope to see you on my journey."
Cabello previously teamed up with Shawn Mendes on their 2015 hit “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” as well as Machine Gun Kelly on “Bad Things,” which cracked the Top 10 on the Hot 100 this week. She's been collaborating with Diplo and Benny Blanco on her new material.
