A 2016 smash is on its way!

Missy Elliott and Bruno Mars are hard at work on separate records, but they found a moment to collaborate in the recording studio, and I’m having a hard time coping.

Missy has been more generous with new music than Mars has in recent months. She’s dropped several fiery cuts like her collabo with Janet on “BURNITUP!,” “WTF,” the Super Bowl-friendly “Pep Rally” and a feature on Michelle Obama’s all-star girl power anthem “This Is For My Girls.”

Mars? Nothing since 2014’s feature on Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk.”

Elliott shared a couple of photos of her and Mars’ studio session, saying “Big up to @brunomars I had a blast with him in the studio vibing!#magic He such a rare gem & such a humble spirit!”

She added, “I am so humbled & grateful Bruno?????? We laughed & laughed the whole night then he played me some ?ass songs 4 his album Whewwww? #INCREDIBLE! ?It’s so inspiring to vibe with ppl who can create real music & have a creative mind! Big up to sunny from Brooklyn ayyyye?? see y’all soon!”

Mars’ dad recently admitted his son planned on dropping his new record, but the Super Bowl performance got in the way. “It was due in March,” he said, “but by doing the Super Bowl (halftime show), it threw him back several months. Bruno has seven great new songs — I’ve heard ’em — but the album should now be released in September or October, to qualify for next year’s Grammy Awards.”
