Britney’s Camp For Kids Faces Economic Struggle

The summer camp Britney started for under-privileged kids in 1999 is about to see its final days, according to TMZ.com.

The 10-day summer program for 250 selected "economically disadvantaged students," originally named the "Britney Spears Camp for the Performing Arts" until Britney left in 2004, was renamed the Summer Stars Camp. Celebrities like 50 Cent and the Jonas Brothers donated to the camp, but in these tough economic times, the organization is struggling.

"The camp's executive director tells TMZ they've run out of money and can't seem to find any more celebrity sponsors this year -- the first time they've had money issues since the place was founded."

The director also claims the camp is in such dire need for the $250,000 it needs to thrive, they've entered a contest run by Pepsi in hopes to receive a grant.

Attempts to reach Britney or her camp for comment were unsuccessful.

It'd be great if Britney saved the day!!!
