People.com: Britney Spears may be ready for her second movie. The pop star, who last appeared in 2002's Crossroads, is reportedly joining Tim Allen, Bette Midler, Cher and Wanda Sykes in the comedy In the Pink.
The movie, written by Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty), is about a man (Allen) who teams up with women to sell cosmetics door to door. While final casting has yet to be confirmed – Allen has long been reportedly attached to the project – Fox News says that Britney has agreed to play a character named Drew Heart.
Filming is due to begin later this month, which may require the "Toxic" singer to get back into shape. She tells Allure magazine in its April issue that she let herself go recently, blaming part of that on her marriage to Kevin Federline. But all that, she also says, is a good thing.
"It made me see that I needed to lose weight," Spears, 23, tells the magazine, calling the tummy that she's put on "the honeymoon aftereffect ... I was just lounging around and eating and laying out and just didn't have a care in the world."
She also says marriage provided her and Federline, who turns 27 on March 21, with a rude awakening. Before getting hitched, "We were like kids, ordering room service, saying, 'Let's go out tonight.' And then all of a sudden, you have the kids," she says, referring to Federline's children, Kori and Kaleb.
"It's this whole reality, you know. But we handled it fine, and now things are starting to go really smooth," she adds.
As for a persistent rumor: "I'm not pregnant," she says. "It's not something I've been striving for."
Finally, NBC News reported early Wednesday morning that Spears and Federline were booted from two Beverly Hills eateries this week, because they entered the restaurants with Britney's pet Chihuahua. Pets are prohibited.
