Bonnie McKee's scantily clad '80s-inspired sexercise music video for "Bombastic" is officially out and it's a win win win!
Maroon 5 tried to claim song of the summer with "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A Motherf---er," but singer/songwriter to the stars (Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Adam Lambert), Bonnie McKee, hadn't premiered "Bombastic" yet. The new single from her upcoming EP by the same name is an aggressive anthemic jam crafted with the sole purpose to wedge itself comfortably atop the pop music charts. In fact, McKee's own words describes the song as a "summer banger," telling Billboard the accompanying music video seen above will "hopefully break the Internet."
The song has moments awfully reminiscent of Kesha's "Blow" or Britney Spears' "Till The World Ends," but no noe's copyrighted oohs and ahhs in music yet, so we'll look the other wa-aa-aay. It's almost a throwback to pop music from a few years ago, however it sounds current. It's a breath of fresh air amidst the Kingdom Comes and the Drop That Kitty Down Lows. Give it a listen below:
"Bombastic" is just a taste of what we can expect from the impending release out next month.
"I’m making a video for every song, which is very ambitious, especially for an independent artist, but I loving being independent," McKee told Smashd back in April. "It’s really fun to have complete creative control and not having anyone meddling. I get to set the timelines and I get to decide what it looks like and what it sounds like without any outside opinions other than the important ones of the people that I know and trust. It’s really fun to be a renegade pop artist and not have to play by the rules."
Definitely our new summer anthem (for now).
