Drake's run at the top will come to an end next week thanks to Blink-182.
Drizzy is No. 1 for a ninth week in a row with his latest album Views thanks to its massive stream game. Billboard reports he sold 111,000 equivalent album units this week – only 25,000 of those were traditional album sales. But while he's had a solid run... what goes up must come down.
Early estimates from Hits Daily Double predict Blink-182's new album California will debut at No. 1 with 135,000-145,000 with sales plus streaming combined, but 125,000-135,000 of that total sum will be pure album units, knocking Drake to No. 2.
Blink also just landed at No. 1 on the Alternative Songs chart with their lead single "Bored To Death."
It's a telling sign of the times – fans of "older" acts still purchase music while the younger gen abides by streaming. If the rumors are true of Apple Music getting rid of their option to download music and force listeners to stream only, it'll be interesting to how these future chart battles play out.
