Britney came face-to-face with the man her family claims intimidates her.
On Monday, Britney participated in a deposition filed by Sam Lutfi, the self-proclaimed ex-manager who is suing the pop star for breach of contract, among other things. Lutfi claims the two made a verbal agreement in 2007 he would manage her personal and professional affairs and is owed 15 percent of her income at the time of his employment (reports suggest Britney was bringing in around $800,000 a month at the time). Britney's lawyers refute Lutfi's testimony, claiming he can't list the exact dates of his employment and therefore the verbal contract is void.
The case originally went to trial in 2012, but faced delays because of the conservatorship Britney is currently under.
"Britney is in a conservatorship and the probate court which handles those originally said that Ms. Spears cannot be deposed or testify," a source told ET Online. "The trial court judge in this case essentially went along with that original ruling. When Sam lost the trial, he appealed, and one of the conditions of his appeal was that Ms. Spears should have testified and the trial judge made that ruling in error. The appellate court ruled in Sam's favor. That is why now that this case has come around for a retrial, there is no argument that she will be deposed."
TMZ reports Britney and Lutfi were in the same conference room together at the deposition. They claim Britney's legal reps "went to great lengths to keep Lutfi out of the room, arguing to a judge that he intimidates her and she cannot think properly around him."
The judge took it into consideration, but denied their request. Instead, according to the order, the two were separated by a long conference table "with Britney at one end and Lutfi at the other." A "surveillance type camera" filmed the entire ordeal. They also arrived and departed at separate times to avoid unnecessary interaction.
Afterward, TMZ's cameramen asked Lutfi about it. He claims Britney looked unhappy about remaining in the conservatorship and "definitely" believes he was a good manager for her at the time. Perhaps she looked down because of a mandatory court appearance.
Hours after the depo., Britney posted the following on Instagram: "All energy is contagious." Mysterious Queen, indeed.
■ PETA wrote Justin Bieber a scathing letter for posing with an abused tiger at his dad's party.
It reads: "On Saturday, April 30, Justin Bieber’s father hosted a party in Toronto, Canada. In an attempt to amuse party guests, he had a tiger and other animals, who were apparently brought in from the Bowmanville Zoo, at the event. What Justin and other party guests probably don’t know is that Michael Hackenberger, the owner of that zoo, was recently charged with five counts of cruelty to animals because of PETA’s undercover footage, which shows him viciously whipping a young tiger during a 'training' session and then bragging about it."
The video of Hackenberger whipping a tiger is on their website and it is disturbing.

■ Maddox released his new song "Fire."
"The idea that someone is in a relationship JUST for the intimacy," he tells BreatheHeavy of the song's meaning. "We’ve all either been there or seen it in another couple, where one person has fallen head-over-heels, but the other is really detached. Like, 'we can hook up, but I’m not gonna be your boyfriend/girlfriend.' In THIS story, though, the antagonist is actually somewhat of a hero, warning the one in love that they’re in danger. He’s urging her to leave and stop the self-sabotage, because he’s not in love and he feels her falling for him."
